Jack Spade and Barneys Are Teaming Up To Celebrate Their New York Roots
Barneys has partnered with Jack Spade in honor of the iconic brand's 20th anniversary to show off their shared hometown pride with an exclusive made-in-New-York collection.
You can always tell who’s a New Yorker. Maybe it’s the urbane attitude, the pragmatic practicality, or the no-nonsense approach in to any situation, but something about those who call the Big Apple home makes them stand out from the crowd. So it’s little wonder that both Barneys and iconic men’s brand Jack Spade take pride in their big city roots and want to show them off. As Jack Spade is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the two brands could think of no better way to mark the occasion than with an exclusive collection of bags and small leather goods made right here in their shared hometown of New York.
“Given the fact that Barneys and Jack Spade are great men’s brands both born in New York, it seemed only right that this collaboration be produced in the heart of New York City,” says Tom Kalenderian, Barneys EVP/GMM of Men’s. For a closer look at the midtown making of these standout pieces, Jack Spade created an exclusive video, which serves up time-honored craftsmanship with a side of streetwise attitude.
So few can call themselves true New Yorkers, but having gotten its start in a loft on Warren Street in Tribeca, Jack Spade certainly qualifies. First up from the brand were bags that somehow managed to combine style with function and sophistication with utility, and over the course of the brand’s 20-year history, it has grown into a full lifestyle range of men’s clothing, bags, and accessories.
“The DNA of the Jack Spade brand is emblematic of a clean, modern, and almost low-tech approach to creating the essential accessories every guy needs,” Kalenderian continues. “This simple, pared-down take on style is synergistic with the Barneys man’s point of view.”
The exclusive collection of bags, which launches this week in Barneys stores and online—stay tuned for the wallets and small leather goods, which will be available online soon!—have been crafted in Hells Kitchen using the utmost of both materials and techniques. From the satin finish of the logo-etched hardware to the brightly colored lacquer edging, no detail has gone unconsidered.
With their clean lines, modern shapes, and supreme versatility, these pieces are up to any task. Just as a true New Yorker should be.
